The brigandine is an innovative form of armor in that it integrated
small steel plates that were placed between two sheets of cloth such as
canvas. The final product would be an extremely functional form of
armor around the upper body without the cumbersome weight and limited
movement of full plate armor. Brigandine armor was very popular with
high society as well as foot soldiers.
