The Mon is the heraldic symbol of Japan and was very similar to the family crest of medieval Europe. The Mon was used to identify aristocratic families on the battle field, as decoration on garments, and to distinguish clan membership for troops.

This is the Paulownia Mon. This Mon was conferred by the Emperor of the Asikagas for bravery

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been hand made with High Carbon Steel. The Carbon has been hammered out through the blade so that it has a universal hardness throughout the entire blade. A Bohi is featured on the blade to both reduce the weight and to provide audible feedback when swung.
The blade comes full tang with a razor sharp edge.
Saya: The Saya of the sword is wooden with a black dull gloss finish. A black cotton Sageo has been tied around the bright brass-fitted Kurigata. The Koiguchi has been constructed from blackened steel. The Paulownia Mon has been carved into the wood of the Saya.
Tsuba: The Habaki is a one piece brass construction. The Tsuba is black steel with a sukashi Paulownia blossom.
Tsuka: The Fuchi is black polished steel. The Tsuka core is wooden with an imitation ray skin (Same wrap). Black Ito has been wrapped over the Same. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the tang of the sword. Two brass Menuki are on each side of the Tsuka. The Kashira is black steel.
