Description Item Specs   " I belong to the warrior in whom the old ways has joined the new " - Kanji on the blade which comes from "The Last Samurai" movie. This sword is beautiful in the very traditional sense of the samurai. The samurai found beauty in all things in nature. Since the samurai's life was usually brief they sought beauty in every day life and held a special place for simple beauty. Carved into the scabbard of this sword in kanji are three of the samurai creeds: " Polite Courtesy ", " Compassion ", and "Complete Sincerity". These were the morals and the oath that the samurai lived and died by. The sword of the samurai is what made them powerful, but the creed they lived by is what made them legend. Overall Length: 38.25 " Blade Material: Stainless Steel Blade Length: 27.25 " Blade: Machine Sharpened Handle Length: 10.75 " Handle Material: Wooden w/ Cotton Wrap Condition: Brand New Features Blade: The blade of the sword is HQSS stainless steel, already sharpened, with the hamon along the edge of the blade. Kanji are etched into the upper part of the blade. Saya (Scabbard): The scabbard is made of hard wood coated with a semi gloss finish. The design of the scabbard is very traditional with an ornate steel scabbard throat and an extended black cord wrap sage-o. Kanji are hand carved into the middle of the scabbard. Tsuba (Guard): The guard of the sword is square cut with a detailed print cast onto both sides. The guard begins with a steel blade collar and ends with a detailed steel Fuchi holding the guard in place. Tsuka (Handle): The sword blade is rat tang running most of the length of the handle. The handle is wooden wrapped with a black cotton cord and decorated with steel menuki dragons on each side of the handle providing comfort and grip. The handle ends with a steel Kashira (pommel). The sword is well balanced and can be used for decoration as well as light practice. This katana is only one piece of the series.
