High Tensile steel is stronger and more flexible than regular mild steel. Comparing to the regular zinc plated or mild steel chainmail, rings are less likely to open and cause shed links. It's an alternative way to have a durable chainmail without spending a lot more money. It is uncertain who invented chain mail but, either way, it was used in both Europe and Japan. High Tensile steel is stronger and more flexible than regular mild steel.
