The origins of the Sai are a mystery even today. It is known that the weapon was most popular in Okinawa and probably was originally a farming tool. What is not a mystery is the effectivness of the Sai. The most well known abitlity of the Sai is its defense against edged weapons.

The three pronged design catches a blade and a twist of the wrist will break the blade. Additionally the weapon is can be thrown up to 30 ft, punch through armor, pummel an opponent, and be used leathally an non lethally. Typically the Sai was carried in a set of two at the hip and an additional Sai at the back of the belt. Despite popluar belief the Sai was unsharpened and had no edge.

Note: Sai holder is not included.
Features
  • Blade: The blade of the Sai are stainless steel with a hexagonal design. The tip of the Sai is unsharpened.
  • Guard: The guard of the Sai consists of the cross section and the two prongs on each side. The prongs are slightly bent out as is traditional, the prongs are rounded and are unsharpened.
  • Handle: The handle of the Sai is full tang covered by a gold and black wrap. The handle ends in a hexagonal solid steel pommel.

3 of 5 Totally Decent and a Good Bargain December 25, 2009
Reviewer: Stephen Poor from Booneville, AR United States
I've been wanting some sai for years, but have never found any that would give me complete fore-arm coverage.  I'm rather tall and traditional sai are made for short people.  These come CLOSE to being long enough, and for the price I can't complain.

These are some of the least-expensive sai I've found, and the quality is okay.  The leather wrappings are a little sup-par in quality, but they work and again, I can't complain at this price.
