Bamboo is a great material for constructing practice weapons with its advantages of both lightweight and toughness. The Boken is a practice weapon for the Japanese sword arts and it was used primarily for Kata form training. However, a boken itself is quite an effective weapon on it own. This bokken measures 22" (56cm) in length and is to be classified as a "Kodachi" of Japanese sword type. It was constructed with a high detail to replicate the look and feel of a Katana. In the hands of an experienced kendo master a boken can be just as exact and devastating as an actual sword. In either case a boken is essential for training in most Japanese sword arts.

Note: This sword is not for sparring.
