The saya of the sword began as a way to store a sword blade so that it would be protected from rust. During the end of the reign of the Samurai the saya was a popular way to carry a sword concealed as a walking stick. In the modern world swords have become less important to battles and so the saya has become a stylized sword.

This is our newest style of Shira-saya. The sword finds its beauty, as the Samurai did, in simplicity. With its sleek design and unique cut out along the saya this sword is unique while keeping a traditional air to it.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword is carbon steel with a visible temper line along the edge of the blade. Printed into the upper half of the blade is a black kanji reading ?Heaven favors the warrior.?The sword is rat tang and comes factory sharpened.
Scabbard (Saya): The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a black high gloss lacquer finish. In the upper half of the scabbard is a cut out framing the steel of the blade and the kanji on the blade. The cut out, in the saya, goes all the way through the scabbard so that the blade and kanji are visible on both sides.
Handle: The handle of the sword is wooden with the same black lacquer finish as the scabbard. When the sword is sheathed it looks like one solid piece of wood.
